When we first met Bella, she was nothing more than a shadow in the alley — ribs showing, fur matted, eyes wide with fear. The summer heat was relentless, and she had been surviving on scraps from a nearby dumpster.
It took three days of gentle coaxing, soft words, and bits of food before she trusted us enough to come close. The moment we lifted her into our arms, she trembled… and then leaned in, as if she finally understood she was safe.
At the shelter, Bella received medical care for dehydration and an infection in her paw. Volunteers brushed away the tangles in her fur, gave her warm baths, and showered her with affection. Slowly, her tail began to wag, her eyes softened, and the spark returned.
Two months later, Bella was adopted by a loving retired couple. Today, she spends her days napping on sunny porches, chasing tennis balls, and curling up between her humans on the couch.
